SIXTY-FIFTH DAILY EXPERIENCE

Let’s talk about exercise. It seems that everyone is talking about exercise and that it is critical to your weight. All the experts are telling you to get some vigorous exercise about three times a week. A lot of the “experts” on television berate and humiliate people who don’t exercise. They make them feel guilty. They tell them that’s why they’re fat. Don’t pay any attention to those “experts”. They are just in show business. Whatever gets ratings is what they will do.

No one disputes that exercise is good for you, for lots of different reasons. It makes you feel good and exercise is a healthy thing to do. Everyone agrees. However, exercise is not going to make you thin. You read about show business people and their personal trainers and the exercises they are doing and how they “lost” weight and how happy they are. They swear it’s because of the exercise. It’s not. (Don’t forget that show business types just love publicity and will do or say almost anything for their 15 minutes of fame.)

Wait a minute! Does that mean that if you can’t exercise for health reasons or just aren’t going to exercise that you are doomed to be fat. That’s ridiculous. Just look at your personal experiences. You know lot of people who can’t or don’t exercise and many of them are slender. Certainly not all of them are fat. The fact is that exercise is not going to enable you to be thin. How can that be if the “experts” tell you that unless you exercise you will forever be fat and that if you exercise you will be thin? That’s because the “experts” don’t have a clue. They are stuck in the “diet and exercise” mentality. They don’t know any better. Your friends who don’t exercise and aren’t fat aren’t eating for emotional reasons. It’s that simple. After all, if you don’t exercise all you have to do is eat less food and you won’t gain weight. That wasn’t very hard, was it?

So the solution to the weight problem if you don’t exercise is just to put less food in your mouth. Hey, you knew that all the time. It’s just common sense. So why are “experts” yelling at you about something that you can’t, or won’t, do? Because they aren’t capable of admitting or dealing with the real problem. Recognizing the real problem would put them out of the business (which is a very lucrative business) of telling people how to “lose weight”.
