| Remember how all the overweight people you know always blamed their weight on heredity or said they had a “glandular problem” or some other medical reason for weighing what they do? Millions of people clung to that illusory explanation in order to deny the real problem. How do we know that they were just kidding you, as well as themselves? Just look at all the people who have had their stomachs removed or stapled or had gastric bypasses. You read about it in the press all the time. Almost all the people you read about say they experience significant “weight loss” following their surgery. Small wonder. They can’t put any food in their stomachs so they don’t put it in their mouths. They are uniformly “happy” that they had the surgery because now they weigh a lot less. Of course, they can barely eat any food anymore. No matter. They are so “happy” to weigh less they are seemingly willing to undergo any sacrifice. Hey, wait a minute! These are the very same people who used to tell you –and themselves – that were fat for medical reasons. It turns out that none of that was true. That was all a fiction. It was something they said because they couldn’t stand weighing what they did but were unable to do anything about it. So, it turns out that there was nothing medical at all about their weight. They just had to keep putting all that food in their mouths. What happened when they stopped? Why, they “lost weight.” What a surprise! Actually, it was a tragedy. It was a tragedy because if all those people could have stopped putting all that food in their mouths without having their stomachs removed or stapled or bypassed they never would have needed the surgery. Just think about that. Over 100,000 people have that kind of surgery every year and the number appears to be growing. It’s become a giant business. People are even gaining weight so they are heavy enough to “qualify” for the surgery. Why? It’s all because they feel the “need” to put lots and lots of food in their mouths. However, if they knew how to eliminate the “need” to put all that food in their mouths they would have never needed the surgery and would have been really happy - and still have their stomachs. One day very soon everyone will recognize that the real problem is emotional eating and, if they follow us, they will learn how to eliminate it. And it won’t cost them a thing. Then the world will make real progress in eliminating obesity. |
