Daily Experience #34

THRITY-FOURTH DAILY EXPERIENCE

You read our book. You liked it. It made a lot of sense. But it wasn’t like other books you’ve read about weight and weight control. There weren’t any recipes. There weren’t any instructions about what to eat or how big a portion you should eat or how many calories you should have in a day or what combinations of fats and carbohydrates you should have or any of the things you are used to reading in all the other weight books. You found our book “hard to read.” That’s because there were so many questions. There were all those questions that made you think about things you haven’t thought about in a long time, if at all. When you started to answer the questions the answers brought back situations that you really didn’t want to think about. Like the time you gained weight. You remember why you gained all that weight. You don’t even want to think about it. You remember the stress. You remember the situations all too well. They were really unpleasant. Who wants to think about all that stuff? It’s better to just get instructions about what to do. That way you don’t have to relive unpleasant times. You found that when you think about why you still want to put all the food in your mouth you think of yourself of “weak” or that you “lack will power.” You don’t like to think of yourself that way. Who does?

You know that dieting is just tinkering with the symptoms. You know that you weight is just a symptom. You know that “losing weight” is only temporary, if that. ”Losing weight” doesn’t get to the heart of your problem, which is why you gained all that weight when you didn’t want to and why you can’t live at a lower weight. But you really don’t want to have to answer all those questions in the book. It takes too long. It’s too hard. Who wants to have to answer all the questions – especially when you don’t like the answers. You don’t want to go through all the emotional experiences. None of your friends do anything like that. It’s not popular yet to do any of those things. It’s not in vogue. Who needs the grief?

Well, you do. You really have kind of a simple choice. You can figure out why you weigh what you do and learn how to eliminate eating in an attempt to satisfy your emotional needs or you can go on weigh 30, or more, pounds more than you want to. There isn’t any middle ground. You have to make a decision. What’s it going to be? Do you want to continue to weigh 30 pounds too much or do you want to solve your “weight problem” permanently? Don’t worry if the kind of self – examination in our book is in style yet. It will be. It will soon become recognized as the only way to permanently weigh what you want to weigh. No, this isn’t a commercial. It’s a fact. The choice is yours. If you don’t understand, intellectually and emotionally, your real problem you will never solve it. The choice is yours. Actually, there is only one choice to make and you know it is. Solve your problem permanently and weigh what you want to weigh. Let’s get on with it.
