Daily Experience #33

THIRTY-THIRD DAILY EXPERIENCE

We all know that dieting will not, by itself, enable you to permanently weight less. Let’s look at why. Let’s look at the reasons you don’t even want to think about.

First of all, why do you weigh what you weigh? Here you are, an intelligent grown up who is successful at your work and raising a family. It seems you can do pretty much everything you want, except control what you weigh. You now that, fundamentally, eating is really nothing more than putting food in your mouth, tasting it and chewing it. Then you swallow it and it’s gone. That’s all eating is. Face it. So what is so important about putting all that food in your mouth that you do it even though you know that weighing 30 pounds too much is ruining a large part of your life? That’s really the issues, isn’t it? Don’t you agree? Come on; at least tell yourself the truth. This is really the issue. That is really your problem. After all, if you didn’t feel a need to put all that food in your mouth you could weigh whatever you wanted to weigh. Don’t you agree? If you don’t agree, why don’t you email us and tell us why you disagree. We’ll answer you. If you agree that we have identified your real problem, why don’t you email us and tell us. If you want you can also tell us why you think you had, or have, to put all that food in your mouth. We’ll answer you.

You can also ask yourself these same questions. That is the real purpose of our book is to make you aware of your problem so that you can deal with your problem by yourself. You will find that the reason you put all that food in your mouth is emotional. If you made decisions about what to eat or how much to eat intellectually or for logical reasons you would eat the foods, and the amount of foods, necessary to enable you to weigh what you want to weigh. After all, you wouldn’t put all that food in your mouth knowing it will make you unhappy if you didn’t have to. That’s why our book takes you through the emotional experiences of doing without the food, not putting it in your mouth so you can feel the emotional feelings you get when you go without your food, even temporarily. The only way you will ever weigh what you want to weigh is to eliminate your emotional need for food. Then, if you chose to follow a diet, you will do so successfully. You will have no emotional need to weigh what you used to weigh. We’re not against diets. We are telling you that they will do you no good at all unless, and until, you stop eating for emotional reasons. Once you do that, you really won’t need a diet, but if you want to follow one or eat prepared foods with just the right amount of calories and nutrition you can do it. Then any weight you “lose” will be permanent, not temporary.
