| Which diet should you go on? That’s always been a tough decision for you. Every one of your friends wants you to go on a different diet. They have all told you how they lost 10 or 15 pounds on their diet and they want you to “try” it. Of course, sooner or later all of them have gained back the weight they thought they had lost forever, so you’re really not sure what to do. It’s a real problem. You know, it’s not that much of a problem. You’ve been on lots of diets and, on every one you have experienced some “weight loss” – at least for a while. But if you are going to gain back the weight you thought you had “lost” for good, why are you in such a quandary. You know it’s not the diet. Today everyone is eating lots of fat and reporting very significant “weight losses.” Yesterday, people were avoiding fat and reporting very significant “weight losses.” Spas, very expensive spas, have been built on the notion that they are going to help you “lose weight.” People flock there and eat perfectly balanced meals that contain just the right amount of calories to cause them to “lose weight.” They, indeed, do report weight loss for the period of time they are at the spa. Great. For a while. A little while. Everyone knows what food the spas serve. You can make the foods at home. Why do you need the spa? Yes, it’s fun and kind of glamorous and lots of people are doing the same thing, but your goal is to weigh less. Why can’t you weigh less without paying the spa such an enormous fee? You know exactly what to do. The fact of the matter is that no diet – and no spa – is going to teach you how to permanently weigh less. Your chances of weighing less, permanently, because of a diet – any diet - are about zero. Why is that? You know very well why that is but you don’t want to think that way. You want to keep alive the illusion that dieting will enable you to weigh less for good. However, it’s just an illusion. You really know that. You just can’t think that way because then you won’t know what to do. As you should know by now, weighing what you want to weigh is not that difficult. All you have to do is stop eating for emotional reasons. e.g. attempting to satisfy your emotional needs with food, and then you can weigh whatever you want to weigh. Then you will be free and you won’t need diets or spas or anything else. You will be in charge and in control. Just stick with the Process. |
