Daily Experience #18

EIGHTEENTH DAILY EXPERIENCE

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in complete control of your eating? Wouldn’t it be terrific if you could make all your decisions about what, and how much, you are going to eat on a purely logical basis? However, you can only do that if you eliminate the emotional needs that cause you to eat the way you have been eating. Let’s see what your life- and weight – would be like once you do that.

Here’s exactly how it will be. Let’s take an extreme example. Let’s say someone offers you cake and ice cream. You will instinctively say to yourself that the food will only be in your mouth for a little while; and that if you eat the cake and ice cream that your weight will likely increase and that would make you unhappy. You will say to yourself that it is not important to have the taste of the cake and ice cream in your mouth. That will no longer be of any significance to you. You will say to yourself that you don’t want to make yourself unhappy. Therefore, since you don’t really care if you have the taste of the food and ice cream in your mouth you won’t eat any. After all, why would you want to make yourself unhappy?

Think about it. Weighing more than you want to weigh will make you unhappy. You don’t want to make yourself unhappy. So you will not eat any food, or any amount of food, that will make you unhappy. That sounds kind of fundamental, doesn’t it? Why would you do something that is making you unhappy? But that is exactly what you have been doing – and are continuing to do. You are putting food – and an amount of food – in your mouth that is guaranteed to make you miserable. When you say it out loud it really does seem foolish, doesn’t it? Wouldn’t it be nice not to have to put all that food in your mouth? Then you could weigh exactly what you want to weigh.

Once you eliminate the emotional component of your eating you will be able to do exactly that. You will choose what to eat, and how much to eat, based on what will make you happy. Then you will be able to weigh what you want to weigh.
