| Today we’re going to understand why you have never been able to “lose weight.” Just about everybody you know wants to “lose weight.” They always seem to be on some sort of a diet. There’s always another new one. They tell you to eat less of one kind of food or a lot of other kinds of foods. They assure you that if you follow their program you will be able to “lose weight.” You’ve tried lots of them, but you are still stuck weighing what you do. Yes, of course, you “lost weight” for a while but you always gained it back. So did everyone else you know. Did you ever think about why when you “lost” 10 pounds you gained it back? Let’s do it. You liked weighing 10 pounds less. It made you feel good. So why didn’t you just maintain that weight? On paper weighing what you want to weigh is the easiest thing in the world. You just eat enough food so that you maintain the weight you want. That’s not very hard, so why didn’t you do it. Why did you feel it necessary to gain the 10 pounds you “lost?” After all, you intentionally ate enough food to gain back the 10 pounds. Why did you do that when you worked so hard to “lose” those pounds? Do you think you can explain why you ate enough food to gain back the 10 pounds? Try it. You don’t have to tell anyone but yourself. You can even try to write down all the reasons you can think of to see if you can possibly explain it to yourself. Are you having trouble explaining it? You probably can’t think of anything to say to yourself or to write. After all, there are no logical reasons why you would want to gain the 10 pounds, so why did you do it? The reality is that you felt emotionally uncomfortable weighing 10 pounds less. Emotionally, you had to eat enough food to gain those 10 pounds. You probably think this is crazy. You hated gaining the 10 pounds. Well then, why did you gain them? It was all your doing. Nobody even helped you. You put all that food in your mouth by yourself. You will come to see that, emotionally, you had virtually no control over your need to eat enough food to gain the 10 pounds. If you want to weigh less you have to eliminate your emotional need for food. I think you’re beginning to understand that. |
